British Diver Headbutted by Shark in Egypt
Gary Virgo, a 66-year-old British scuba diver, had a close call with an oceanic whitetip shark while diving at Fury Shoal in the Red Sea on 2 November 2023. Just nine minutes into the dive, the shark circled him before suddenly ramming him with its head.
Virgo believes the bright colours of his dive hood and the sound of his dive computer may have triggered the sharkâs curiosity. He was unharmed, and he and his dive buddy safely returned to their boat.
