Jamaican Fisherman Loses Arm in Tiger Shark Attack
On June 24, 2022, fisherman Michael Simpson was attacked by a 15-foot tiger shark while fishing in the Caribbean Sea. The incident occurred in the early afternoon.
Simpson was in the water when he felt something bump against him. Realizing it was a shark, he attempted to grab a fishing gun, but it fell into the water. The shark then attacked, shaking him violently. A nearby boater rushed to help, but as the boat approached, the shark bit down harder and severed Simpson’s right arm.
He was quickly transported to May Pen Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica, where he received emergency treatment.
