Shark Bites Boat During Sardine Run in South Africa
On 14 July 2023, a group of tourists, including Emily Cehrs, was observing the sardine run off Chinta East, South Africa, when a shark bit and deflated their boat. The crew quickly reinflated it to stay afloat and moved away from the bait ball attracting predators.
The group returned to shore slowly to avoid sinking. Despite the scare, no one was injured.
