Swimmer Suffers Possible Shark Bite at Jones Beach, New York
On June 30, 2022, a man swimming at Jones Beach in Wantagh, New York, sustained a laceration to his right foot in a suspected shark bite incident. Reports conflicted on his age, with some sources stating he was 37 years old and others reporting he was 57.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. at the popular beach, which attracts millions of visitors annually. Responding medics determined the wound was consistent with a possible shark bite, but the species involved was not identified.
