Surfer Bitten by Shark at Satellite Beach, Florida

On September 11, 2023, Bill Eveland was bitten by a shark while surfing off Satellite Beach in Brevard County, Florida. The attack occurred in the afternoon as Eveland was catching a final wave of the day.

Eveland had noticed pods of mullet in the area, indicating a possible feeding frenzy. As he surfaced from a wave, the shark struck him in the lower right back. He saw the shark’s tail as it swam away. Eveland remained on his board until he felt it was safe to return to shore.

He was treated at an urgent care center, where he received 25 stitches to close the wound.
