Woman Bitten by Shark While Swimming Off California Beach

On 4 November 2022, 50-year-old Lyn Jutronich was swimming off Del Mar Beach, California, when a juvenile great white shark attacked her. She felt a hard impact between her legs before seeing the shark clamp onto her right thigh and shake once before letting go.

Lifeguards helped her back to shore, and she was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital for treatment of shallow puncture wounds and lacerations. The beach was closed for 48 hours as a precaution.
