Florida Fisherman Bitten by Shark While Taking Photo
On 3 November 2022, a 29-year-old fisherman in Cape San Blas, Florida, was bitten by a shark he had reeled in. As he pulled the shark into shallow water for a photo, it latched onto his leg, causing deep lacerations to his knee and thigh.
Emergency responders treated him on-site before he was taken to Bay County Hospital, where doctors closed the wounds with 50 stitches. The shark, either a blacktip or sandbar shark, was released back into the ocean.
