Elderly Woman Injured in Suspected Shark Bite at Redington Beach, Florida
On June 23, 2022, an elderly woman sustained multiple injuries to her left leg after a suspected shark bite at Redington Beach, Florida. The incident occurred in three feet of water in the Gulf of Mexico.
Witnesses reported seeing sharks feeding offshore before two began swimming toward the beach. The victim was quickly assisted by bystanders, and emergency responders were called. Due to location issues with the first 911 call, a second call was placed, allowing paramedics to reach the scene. She was transported by ambulance for medical treatment.
While a bull shark was suspected, there is currently no confirmed evidence identifying the species involved.
