Swimmer Bitten by Shark in Tampa Bay, Florida
On July 29, 2023, 26-year-old Natalie Branda was swimming with friends in Tampa Bay, about two to three miles from St. Petersburg Pier, when she was bitten by a shark. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. in murky water.
Branda was celebrating a friend’s birthday and had just splashed the water when she suddenly felt pressure on her body. She quickly swam back to the boat, where her friends applied pressure to her wounds before calling 911.
She was taken to the hospital, where she received 14 stitches for superficial wounds on her upper legs and abdomen.
