Great White Shark Destroys Kayak Near Coffs Harbour, Australia

On August 17, 2022, retired accountant John Vincent had a narrow escape when a great white shark bit his six-meter-long kayak in half while he was paddling between Pig Island and the Coffs Harbour break wall in New South Wales, Australia.

Vincent was training early in the morning when his kayak was struck from behind. The force of the impact threw him into the water, leaving him stranded. Neither Vincent nor the two other kayakers in the area saw the shark, but the bite marks on the remains of his kayak were consistent with those of a great white.

Although shaken, Vincent was unharmed.
