Kayaker’s GoPro Captures Tiger Shark Attack in Hawaii
On 13 May 2023, Scott Haraguchi was kayak fishing off Kualoa, Oahu, when a tiger shark lunged at his kayak. The attack, captured on his GoPro, showed the shark striking the boat, nearly knocking him into the water. Haraguchi kicked the shark away and continued fishing.
He later speculated that the shark mistook his kayak for a wounded seal seen nearby. A day later, authorities closed North Beach after a 20-foot shark was spotted in the area.
