Texas Woman Survives Shark Attack in Florida Keys
On June 29, 2022, 35-year-old Lindsay Rebecca Bruns from Flower Mound, Texas, was seriously injured in a shark attack east of Sawyer Key in Monroe County, Florida. The incident occurred around 8 p.m., just before sunset.
Bruns was on a pontoon boat with her husband and two daughters, repeatedly jumping into the water. After performing a flip, her husband heard an unusually large splash and saw blood in the water. Bruns surfaced, screaming for help. Her husband immediately pulled her onto the boat and used rope as a makeshift tourniquet before rushing her to shore.
She was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where she underwent multiple surgeries during her week-long stay.
